Breckenridge Ski Resort Opening Weekend Nov. 12, 2010

Late Breaking news... the ski resort just announced all the runs that will be open. "We will be opening the gondola, Colorado SuperChair, 5 chair, 7 chair (Rip’s Ride), Trygve’s platter and the Admin conveyer. The terrain will be Springmeier, Four O’Clock, Trygve’s, Spruce, Crescendo, Swinger, Callies Alley, Powerline (50%) and the Parklane triple jumpline. We will also be offering Horseshoe Bowl (70%) and Contest Bowl as hike to terrain using upper Four O’Clock. Our acreage will be 115 lift served and 180 hike to for a total of 295. We will keep everyone posted as we open additional lifts and terrain."

The 2010/11 Ski Season is upon us and Breckenridge Ski Resort is set to open with all the fun and new extras we expect out of this great ski resort! Friday is the day not to miss… whether you take a personal day, call in sick or just don’t show you need to be at Breckenridge!

Here are the events lined up for opening day…

1. Be the first in line- the first 1,000 people to get the first chair will get free breakfast! First chair at 9pm!

2. You will be skiing or riding 147 acres of the resort (which has been getting lots of snow all week) via the Colorado SuperChair, 5 Chair, Rip’s Ride, Trygve’s Platter and one conveyor lift. Runs will include Springmeier, Spruce, Swinger, Crescendo as well as the jump line in Park Lane.

3. Later in the morning Ski Patrol will be dropping the ropes and opening 117 acres of hike-to terrain in the Contest Bowl and Horseshoe Bowl.

4. And don’t forget the Epic Pass… where you can track your every move, all the runs you took and share it with all your friends on facebook and more!

Don't Miss the Funk! Keystone’s Blues Festival and Art Show

The 6th Annual Blues Festival and Art Show this Aug. 21-22, 2010 will bring talents of all styles, funk and variety to the high altitude mountain town of Keystone, CO. Expect fabulous funky beats, soulful art and cold beer. What’s a festival with out beer? Kids events will also be plentiful making this event perfect for all.

Admission to the event is free but remember to bring some cash for the food & beverages.

The art show runs both Saturday and Sunday from 1-7pm along with all food and beverage vendors pumping out the yummy food and refreshments. All is located in the River Run Village in Keystone.

Enjoy music from Tommy Thomas, Blooz Dogz, Lipbone Redding and the Hazel Miller band. All bring different interpretations of the blues style of music- showing a personal story from each artist.

“Redding, who got his start in music as a subway musician in New York City, said he's always related to the blues-style of music. At this year's festival, he also said his big-music sound will be slightly more intimate,” says the Summit Daily News.

North Mississippi All Stars have a long standing affiliation with Mississippi country blues and City Champs are the newest in a long lineage of Memphis musicians. 20th Annual International Snow Sculpture Competition Returning to Breckenridge, CO

Ready, Set, Sculpt! Watch the furry of creation as teams from all over the world turn 12 foot tall, 20 ton blocks of snow into sculptures of your wildest dreams in just 65 hours. The artists in the International Snow Sculpture Competition begin the sculpting on Tuesday, January 26 at 11:00am and continue their creative process till Saturday, January 30th at 10:00am. Judging begins at 10 a.m on Saturday and the awards ceremony is at 3:00 on Sunday the 31st.

If you don’t have a chance to take a stroll in the Riverwalk Center (150 West Adams Avenue) everyday to check out the progress than you can’t miss Friday night before the due date the next morning and Saturday you will be able to see the full completed project. But the sculptures will stand until the following Sunday, January 7th!
