2010/11 Ski Season Closing and Epic Mix Numbers- Good bye winter, hello summer!

Breckenridge is calling this 2010/2011 ski season a wrap with an incredible winter season!  Overall the Breckenridge Ski Resort saw huge snow totals that kept the ski resort in near perfect conditions until closing day April 24, 2011 with a 101 inch base!   This was not only a big year for all the powder hounds but also for all the skiers/ boarders who love social media and their smartphones! 

Breckenridge was part of the Vail Resorts who launched the brand new EpicMix pass this season.  Epicmix announced their final numbers a few days ago and they are quite impressive! Of all the Vail Resorts using the EpicMix pass Nearly 100,000  guests activated EpicMix accounts this season, generating over 35 million social impressions and racking up over 55 billion vertical feet of skiing and snowboarding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly, CA.  EpicMix passes not only tracks all your vertical feet but it combines technology to digitally capture your ski and ride experience and share it with friends and family via facebook and foursquare like “buttons”.  Learn more about the EpicMix Pass.

Nearly 100,000 Vail Resorts guests activated EpicMix accounts this season which roughly accounts for an almost 15-percent adoption rate by eligible guests. Also, almost 40,000 guests downloaded the EpicMix application to their mobile phone.  

So overall, not only are people loving the Breckenridge, Keystone and other Vail Resorts mountains but they are loving being social about it too!  This pass tracked your vertical feet, ski runs and rewarded "buttons" (in true foursquare style only cooler names and achievements) and combined it all to be shared or bragged about with your buddies via facebook, twitter and you could manage your account on-line.

So the Epic Mix Pass has been out now for about half a ski season at Breckenridge Ski Resort and Keystone Ski Resort and we’ve been hearing that not only does our office love the new pass features but a lot of other people do to. 

Lowdown: Epic Mix pass allows for you to be checked in at different Vail Resorts and check all of your skiing statistics online. EpicMix will calculate your vertical feet, days skied, and lifts ridden. A very fun and interactive part of the EpicMix is the pins feature. For different accomplishments on the hill, such as skiing in less than 5 degree weather to checking in a day late for a powder day, EpicMix will award you many different pins.
It’s all about Vertical: Many pass holders in Breckenridge have challenged each other to see who can get in the most runs, vertical feet or lift rides in a month.  One of our lovely RQ members has reached over well over 20,000 vertical feet in January- that is alot of ski runs!

Vail Resorts unveiled a brand new online and mobile application EpicMIX.com that will allow skiers and riders a way to digitally capture and share their on-mountain experience every time they ski!

EpicMix allows Vail Resorts guests, at any of its five world-class mountain resorts–Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly–to effortlessly utilize technology to digitally capture their ski and ride experience and share it with friends and family.

AND it’s Premiering at KEYSTONE resort on 11/05/2010. Get lodging deals now for Keystone and Breckenridge for this winter season and be able to use EpicMix to show off your ski vacation!

EpicMix automatically captures the activity of guests throughout each of its resorts, by leveraging Vail Resorts’ state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) scanners that are being installed at each of its 89 lifts across all five mountain resorts. An RF-enabled chip embedded in Vail Resorts’ season passes and PEAKS lift tickets will automatically track guests’ lift rides, calculating vertical feet skied and days on the mountain and will recognize special achievements and accomplishments by granting guests commemorative, collectible digital pins. EpicMix will have hundreds of available digital pins for a multitude of unique experiences available at each resort.
