Biking in Breckenridge

Last weekend I got a chance to take a bike ride around Breckenridge. It was so nice and relaxing. I couldn't have asked for better weather. A couple of my friends and I rented cruiser bikes at the River Mountain Lodge Bike shop, ResortQuest Ski and Sport. They had great rates and were so helpful. Some of the guys rented out the mountain bikes and headed up to Peak 9. They had tons of fun too!

The Ski and Sport shop had some great retail stuff too. I couldn't leave without getting a Breckenridge sweatshirt for my brother.

Check out the bike path that goes all around Summit County from Copper Mountain, Breckenridge and Keystone. www.summitcolorado.com/summit-county/biking/

Town Of Breckenridge Party

The town of Breckenridge hosts it annual Town Party at the Riverwalk. The town party is the place to be on Friday afternoon as the party begins at 4 and goes till dark around 9pm. There will be a cash BBQ hosted by Hearthstone Catering and live music by Papa Mali. Check out the bands website at http://www.papamali.com/ This is the kick off to Breckenridge's Kingdom Days. Instead of townies spreading out on the lawn to enjoy the festivities attendees will be spread out in the parking lot and inside the center. Don't miss out on the annual town picture. This sure to be one to remember.

This will be the first time that locals will be able to check out the new and improved Riverwalk Center. The Riverwalk Center now has a permenant roof that will be able to host multiple events throughout the year.

The Roof Has Been Raised at the Riverwalk Center

For 15 years, the 774-seat Riverwalk Center, a seasonal amphitheatre covered by a tent, has hosted thousands of concerts and events. In 2006 it was determined that the existing tent needed to be replaced due to normal "wear and tear". And in September 2007, the Town of Breckenridge embarked on a capital improvement project to replace the tent with a roof and walls. This project is a public/private collaborative partnership. Over $1,000,000 has been raised privately to significantly enhance this community icon and hub of cultural offerings. The Town of Breckenridge is funding the remaining cost of the project, over $3 million.

During 2007/2008 winter season, a roof and walls will be erected over the existing amphitheatre structure and other facility improvements will be made as well. This project will substantially enhance the patron and performer experience by improving the acoustics, temperature control and lighting within the facility. The unique connection to the outside environment which makes the Riverwalk Center so special will be maintained with six large clear doors that will open to the Riverwalk Center Lawn. The lawn area expands the Riverwalk Center's capacity by over 2000.

The Riverwalk Center plays host to a number of events, mainly the National Repertory Orchestra. June 8th the Riverwalk Center will open its doors to the musicians. The Town of Breckenridge will have its chance to check out all the changes on June 13th for the Town Party. The public grand opening will be on June 14.

Powder Day In May?

Breckenridge has had non-stop snow for the last day and half. Isn't it May? Didn't I just see tons of people out the other day on bikes and running? That's what i love about the mountains biking one day and skiing the next. Plenty more skiing at A Basin. There reporting 6 inches in the last 24 hours. Check out the picture of the deck at Main Street Station in Breckenridge. You can't even see the resort right behind it!
