Thanksgiving storm just the beginning of week of freshies

Breckenridge has 5 inches of fresh powder, topping of a a week of 20 inches of new snow. A fantastic mid-mountain base of 26" greeted holiday skiers and riders with some of the best Thanksgiving conditions in years. But more is on the way. Forecasters predict another 5 to 9 inches beginning Tuesday through late-week, just in time for the first weekend of December. Labor Day - Rubber Duck races


The Breckenridge Rubber Duck races you know and love return to the cool, clear water of the Blue River in Breckenridge on Saturday, September 1st. Three competitions will mark the day with the Kids Duck Dash setting the pace at 2 p.m. in the first race of the day. The corporate Quackers will follow at 3 p.m. and the spectacular People’s Rubber Duck Race will be held at 4 p.m. and will wrap up the duck season with 10,000 little yellow rubber ducks “taking their mark” and competing for great prizes which include trips, season ski passes, services and merchandise for their lucky-duck adoptive owners! Come join us at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center starting at 11 a.m. for a great day complete with a BBQ, rockin’ music and kids’ games. Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge


The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge is stopping off in Breckenridge on Sunday February 11th on its nationwide tour. Snowboarders and skiers alike will compete for medals and other prizes in 30 different categories. All ability levels are welcome and ages ranging from under 6 to over 76 will represented. Participants and resort guests are entertained throughout the day with exciting interactive games, DJ's, music, thousands in raffle prizes and plenty of FREE Mountain Dew! If you end up going to the finals your lift tickets will be taken care of. The western finals are at Steamboat on March 31st. International Snow Sculpture Championships

January 16, 2007, Breckenridge, Colorado – The snowy mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado is eagerly preparing for one of its most famed events of the season: The 17th Annual Budweiser Select International Snow Sculpture Championships. Starting January 23, teams from across the globe will converge in downtown Breckenridge where they prepare to carve stunning works of art from little more than a block of snow. Each year Breckenridge plays host to this event, which draws teams from as far away as Mexico, Norway, Italy and Sweden. A total of 10 teams, representing 17 countries are on tap for this year’s competition. Over the course of 5 days, thousands of spectators watch as blank canvases of snow are transformed into everything from whimsical bouquets of enormous flowers to thought-provoking abstract shapes. Rules limit the artists to the strict use of select hand tools and their own creativity and inspiration. No power tools or colorants are allowed.



On January 27, 2007 a panel of judges will award honors to the top four teams, based on the criteria of: theme, style and technique. The spectators will then have their moment to speak, with the awards of: People’s Choice, Kid’s Choice and Artist’s Choice.
