Breckenridge’s summers are brilliant with the high mountain air, lots of sunshine and miles & miles of hiking trails. Not everyone is an experienced hiker and comfortable on their own, or if you would like to know the history of the area you are walking through then the Breckenridge’s guided hiking tours are for you! This summer there are several hiking or walking tours to choose from while you are vacationing in Breckenridge:

Guided Historic Walking Tour:
Take the guided walk through Breckenridge’s nationally recognized historic district. 90 minute tour.
Where: Breckenridge Welcome Center
Time: Tuesday- Sunday, 11am
Cost: $10 adults, $5 children 12 & under

Iowa Hill Guided Hike
Enjoy this hike that winds through a historic mine site and up to a restored miners’ boarding house. Allow two hours for the hike.
Where: Meet at the Iowa Hill Trailhead, directly north of Public Works facilities on Airport Rd.
Time: Saturday 10am
Cost: $10 adults, $5 children 12 & under

French Gulch Guided Hike
Enjoy a guided hike through French Gulch, the location of dozens of early mining operations. See relics from the mining era. Reservation required- space is limited.
Where: From the Breckenridge Welcome Center head north on
Hwy 9. Turn right on Wellington. Follow Wellington until it
ends. Turn right on French Gulch Rd. Follow French Gulch
Rd. for approximately 1.5 miles. The B&B Trailhead is the
first parking lot/trailhead just past the Country Boy Mine on
the right hand side.
When: Thursdays at 10 a.m., starting on June 24, 2010
Cost: $10 adults, $5 children 12 & under

Wilderness Hike
Join the Breckenridge Recreation Dept. for a professional weekly guided hike around Breckenridge. From easy to difficult, these two hour hikes will entice your senses and teach you all you want to know about the high alpine eco-systems and it’s history. Be sure to dress for the weather and anticipate thunderstorms. Bring water, rain jacket, sunscreen, and hiking boots or shoes. No dogs allowed. Children under 4 must be in a carrying pack.
Where: Breckenridge Welcome Center
Time: Thursdays 10 am, June 10- Aug. 26
Cost: $12 per person
