2010/11 Ski Season Closing and Epic Mix Numbers- Good bye winter, hello summer!

Breckenridge is calling this 2010/2011 ski season a wrap with an incredible winter season!  Overall the Breckenridge Ski Resort saw huge snow totals that kept the ski resort in near perfect conditions until closing day April 24, 2011 with a 101 inch base!   This was not only a big year for all the powder hounds but also for all the skiers/ boarders who love social media and their smartphones!

Breckenridge was part of the Vail Resorts who launched the brand new EpicMix pass this season.  Epicmix announced their final numbers a few days ago and they are quite impressive! Of all the Vail Resorts using the EpicMix pass Nearly 100,000  guests activated EpicMix accounts this season, generating over 35 million social impressions and racking up over 55 billion vertical feet of skiing and snowboarding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly, CA.  EpicMix passes not only tracks all your vertical feet but it combines technology to digitally capture your ski and ride experience and share it with friends and family via facebook and foursquare like “buttons”.  Learn more about the EpicMix Pass.

Nearly 100,000 Vail Resorts guests activated EpicMix accounts this season which roughly accounts for an almost 15-percent adoption rate by eligible guests. Also, almost 40,000 guests downloaded the EpicMix application to their mobile phone.

So overall, not only are people loving the Breckenridge, Keystone and other Vail Resorts mountains but they are loving being social about it too!  This pass tracked your vertical feet, ski runs and rewarded "buttons" (in true foursquare style only cooler names and achievements) and combined it all to be shared or bragged about with your buddies via facebook, twitter and you could manage your account on-line.

Us at ResortQuest Breckenridge & Keystone want to say thanks to all our loyal skiing and lodging customers! So with an incredible ski season that ULLR blessed and an extra fun ski pass that made all the big talkers back it up with stats from EpicMix, the 2010/2011 ski season was one of the best!

Why Choose Breckenridge for Your Mountain Wedding?

There are many mountain towns in Colorado that offer a serene wedding backdrop, however Breckenridge offers more than just location.  This small lively town of Breckenridge comes packed with history, amazing & unique restaurants, galleries, shops & museums, activities for all ages, strong community and of course incredible views.

Why Breckenridge for the Perfect Mountain Wedding?
  • The history behind Breckenridge goes back to the late 1800’s when mining was the main interest in Breckenridge.  Much of downtown Breckenridge is part of a historical site with the effort to maintain the original feel of those old cute Victorian style mining buildings.  This gives Breckenridge such a classic and quaint feel. The look of downtown is quite unique to many of Colorado’s newer mountain towns that lack the color of Breckenridge.
  • Downtown hosts over 60 restaurants- every one of your wedding guests will find the tastes that satisfy their cravings!  Unique boutique shopping is all around and bigger names like Patagonia are here too for the ladies and the gents of your wedding party.  If you have some art lovers, they will be thrilled with the art district that hosts a wide array of different artists from glass blowing, western style to modern art forms.  And the nightlife is one you have to explore- with classy bars or laid back taverns you will find what fits your wedding party the best!
  • Spas and Spas! Don’t fret that your spa stylist will be outdated and give you a dated “small town look” for your wedding.  The spas in Breckenridge have trained stylists that carry top of the line products, have trained cosmologists and the number of professionals you need to make your bridal party feel pampered and look amazing for your special day!

  • Summer Views and Activities.  A local saying goes “People move to Breckenridge for the winter but stay for the summer!” The views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains are breathtaking with the spectacular green of summer and the blue bird skies above.  The outdoor activities are abundant! Enjoy horseback riding, rafting, golf, hiking and biking and list goes on.

  • Best Lodging in Breckenridge.   You want your lodging and accommodations to match your elegant wedding!  Our properties at ResortQuest Breckenridge will not only impress your guests, provide comfort but will also be the perfect location for your Breckenridge wedding.  Whether you would like your wedding outside or staged in a beautiful ballroom we have these accommodations!

Insider Tips for Spring Skiing in Keystone, CO

Insider Tips are written by the expert team at our ResortQuest Ski and Sport shops! Thanks Frank E.!

The last 7 days in March brought 50, YES, 50 INCHES, of fresh new snow to the
Breckenridge area and 48 INCHES to Keystone!!! And with the latest storm that has rolled through Spring skiing in Breck and Keystone is more like mid-winter conditions! Keystone
received 11" since yesterday (April 3) and over 39" inches in the past 7 days! Shout out for Spring Powder Days!

And with the end of the season approaching ResortQuest is offering some incredible lodging deals including the Spring Fever Buy One Get One promotion.  Stay two nights, pay for just one night, stay three nights, pay just two nights, and so on.

So where are the best runs right now at Breckenridge and Keystone Ski Resorts?
Learn more about the Breckenridge Ski Resort including maps and descriptions and learn more
  • BeginnersBreckenridge - Check out the Silverthorne run.  This casual green cruiser on Peak 9 can be accessed from the Quicksilver lift.  It is perfect for skiers and riders that are looking to take it easy and not have to worry about ending up on a more advanced trail.  It goes to the base of Peak 9 where you can stop in to the Quandary Grill on the Main Street Station plaza for a quick bite to eat before heading back onto the slopes. See lodging next to Quicksilver KeystoneGet on Schoolmarm.  This is a very long green run that winds its way across Keystone Mountain and will give you a sweet, easy way to get down the hill.
  • IntermediateBreckenridge - Loaded with nothing but mellow blue runs, lower Peak 7 is the perfect place for intermediate skiers, or as a warm up for advanced and expert snow riders before getting on the black and double-black runs.  For the wider, easier blue runs try Wirepatch and Lincoln Meadows.  If you want something a bit more challenging we recommend Northstar, Claimjumper or PioneerKeystone – When you are ready to step it up a notch give Wild Irishman a go.  With the option of hitting bumps on one side of the trail and groomers on the other, the choice is yours as to how aggressive you want to be.
  • AdvancedBreckenridge - For snow riders that want to challenge themselves without going overboard we recommend checking out Chair 6.  Lines can be a bit long right after the opening bell, but it is worth the wait.  There is a broad expanse of single-black runs that will keep you on your toes without getting too hairy for most people.  When you get off the chair head hard left and go to Way Out.  This run skirts the ski area boundary and is frequently un-tracked.  Steep and fun!  Keystone – Head back to the North Peak and hit Cat Dancer.  With lots of bumps your legs will burn, but in a satisfying way.
  • Expert Breckenridge - For those that are ready for the ultimate Breckenridge challenge head up the Imperial lift and head over to Upper Peak 7.  This stout traverse weeds out all but the most die-hard skiers and boarders, but is absolutely worth the effort.  This terrain provides nothing but double-black terrain and will open your eyes to the joys of serious snow riding.  As you get farther over you will hit Whales Tale, which takes you right down the guts of the bowl.  You might have to go back to lower Peak 7 for a well deserved break. Keystone – One of the best parts of Keystone Resort is its fabulous tree skiing.  They pulled out all of the stops when it came to creating beautiful gladed runs that go on forever.  Some of the best of these are in the Black Forest on The Outback.  Runs include Bushwhacker, Badger and The Grizz.  These are for experts only, but if you qualify, definitely check these out.  WEAR A HELMET!
Need some great skis for a great price?  Check out our ResortQuest Ski and Sport Shop- We have great gear at great prices with experts fitting you for your day of skiing! Get to Breckenridge and Keystone for Epic Spring Skiing!

Spring Breckenridge Beer Festival- Brews, Bands, Lodging and Spring Fever

Karin B. is ResortQuest's event planner and true Breck local- she loves to ensure all our guests enjoy themselves so check out her insider knowledge!

One of the best things to do during Spring Fever in Breckenridge will be the Breckenridge Beer Festival April 9th at Main Street Station.   You really need to spend the entire weekend in Breck, check out the nightlife the night before and of course spend the night of the beer fest – because with 24 brewers sampling their specialty brews, you'll want a comfy bed to return to!

This year the Breck Beer Fest will feature three bands.  Openers the Holden Young Trio and Something Underground set the stage for headliner Elliott Brood and are all sure to keep your feet moving with their grooving music!!!  By buying a $65 VIP (presale) beer mug, you can begin your unlimited beer sampling one hour earlier ( noon – 5pm ) and will gain you access into a VIP lounge for a nice lunch catered by Harvest Catering.  A unlimited tasting regular mug price will run you $25 ( presale) and will get you sampling at 1pm – 5pm.  Entry into the event for music is FREE.

Book with ResortQuest Breckenridge and get discounted lodging plus discounted beer mugs and VIP tickets!  Book now!

So now where to stay?  They say that location is everything, so let’s start with the closest lodging to the event.  The Breck Beer Fest is located a Main Street Station in the plaza at the center of the complex.  I would say that to be right in the mix, staying at Main Street Station in one of the rooms overlooking the plaza would be ideal.  You would be able to watch the live music right from your balcony and venture down to sample the brews as you wish.  Book This Property Now!

If you are looking for a little more peace and quiet, but still want fabulous luxury, the next building over is Water House on Main Street.  It is new, incredibly decorated and the end units have spectacular views of Peak 9 and Maggie Pond.  The night before the event take advantage of  the amenities Water House has to offer, fitness center, swimming pool, hot tubs and eucalyptus steam rooms. After the event is over, you can walk to the many restaurants on Main Street as Water House is located on Main on the south side of town. Book This Property Now!

For a more economical lodging choice for Beer Fest weekend, try River Mountain Lodge.  It is clean, comfortable and located one block from all of the action of Main Street, Breckenridge in the center of town.  It, too, has a fitness room, swimming pool, hot tubs (some units have their own private hot tub) and bar lounge. A short 5 minute walk will bring you to the Festival.  Book This Property Now!

Of course, I  truly recommend staying anywhere within walking distance, because between the 24 brews being served, and the 10,000 feet above sea level, you surely will not want to drive.  There is a wide a range of lodging options located all within a five minute walk to the Beer Fest – view our list of properties with video and photos of every unit so you can pick out the perfect condo for your weekend!

Enjoy everything Spring Fever and the Breckenridge Beer Festivals have to offer and stay safe and comfortable after all the fun in one of our condos!  See the deal and discounted mugs for the beer festivals! Book now before they rooms are gone!

St. Patrick's Day Celebrations in Breckenridge- Kiss Me, I'm Irish!

Blog written by Breck Local Karin Bearnarth who has a special place in her heart for all those Irish- even just a wee-bit!

Breckenridge celebrates St. Patrick’s Day, just a wee bit this March 17, 2011!  Whether you are born and raised in Ireland or have a touch of Irish in you, celebrating St. Patrick’s day in the high country will have you saying “Tabhair pog dom taim Eireannach” (Kiss me! I’m Irish)  before the end of the evening!

Start your day off at Burke and Riley’s which will open at 7am with a giant Irish buffet breakfast.  Mark Burke, one of the owners, says he will be serving up a traditional Irish breakfast, the most important meal of your day!  Later in the day, enjoy the sounds of the old country with bagpipers from Denver’s Emerald Society.  Burke and Riley’s will also have live Irish music, a DJ and Celtic dancers throughout the afternoon and evening.  A small cover charge will get your first  “beor ghlas” (green beer) and a collector’s Burke and Riley’s t-shirt.  Of course there will be Guinness on tap as well.

Head over to Fatty’s Pizzeria, a local’s tradition for St Patrick’s Day lunch.  The corned beef simply falls apart because they braise it and then slow cook if for eight hours.  It is served with cabbage and other vegetables that have been slow cooked as well. They open at 11 and serve at least 100 pounds of corned beef that afternoon!  Yum!

Napper Tandy’s owner Anthony Bulfin, born and raised in County Tipperary Ireland,  and rumored to be  a direct descendant of St Patrick, hosts another gigantic celebration beginning with a true Irish buffet with corned beef and cabbage with soda crackers and Guinness on tap.  The buffet opens at 11am - 4pm.  Live Celtic music will begin at 12pm – close.  The decks at Napper Tandys will be filled with revelry and have nice views of the mountains.  At 5pm, be dazzled by Breckenridge’s own Celtic Steps dancers – ages 5 – 15, which have been professionally trained by members of the cast of Lord of the Dance, and will perform traditional Irish dances until 6pm.  Impress Anthony by saying “Pionta Guinness le do thoil” which means “ A pint of Guinness , please!”

New this year will be an upscale St Patrick’s Day party at Blue River Bistro, from 4 – 7pm.  Their new chef will prepare traditional Irish fare including corned beef and cabbage, but with an avant-garde twist.  Jay Beckerman, owner, says he is introducing a new St Patrick’s Day martini to go along with the fabulous appetizers.  Larry Copeland will be performing his outstanding jazz but promises it will have an Irish twist, as he and his crew have been working on U2 covers! Getting green at the blue will certainly have you saying “Eirinn go Brach”  ( Ireland forever) for the rest of the night!

Get to Breckenridge to celebrate St. Patty's day or anytime this spring and save up to 40% on lodging through March- or experience Spring Fever in a different light all April! Save up to 40% on Spring Fever Lodging and cure that need for spring skiing, apres and all those awesome events!
We look forward to seeing you this St Patrick’s Day! Slainte!

Best Sleigh Rides in Breckenridge- Top Picks For the Perfect Dinner Sleigh Ride

“Just hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling ding-a-ling-a-ling too…come on it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you…”
Nothing says “Colorado” better than an unbelievable sleigh ride outdoors in Summit County.  Whether you are taking a brisk ride during the day through the picturesque national forests here in the high country, or bundling up in the evening, watching falling stars on a dinner sleigh ride, you surely will be making a marvelous memory.

Top Picks for the Best Sleigh Rides:

Two Below Sleigh Rides
Two Below Zero Dinner Sleigh Ride:  Two Below took us out for an old fashioned journey through breath-taking mountain views at 9,000 feet. The trip departed from the Frisco Nordic Center and travelled through the Peninsula Recreation Area down scenic trails.  At night, the open space of the Peninsula afforded us amazing, unobstructed views of the constellations, as well as slow moving satellites and a falling star! The ride ended in a warm dinner cabin where live music was performed and a fabulous dinner was served.  The musician did a great job of playing songs we could all sing along to.  Two Below allows you to bring your own bottle of wine or liquor and bring some to share! (We brought peppermint schnapps and added it to our endless cup of hot chocolate the folks over at the sleigh ride made!) Two Below website

Nordic Dinner Sleigh Rides
Nordic Dinner Sleigh Rides: The Nordic rides are a bit different and just as enjoyable.  They are located deep in the national forest about 6 miles behind the Breckenridge Golf Course.  The drive at night was fun for the family as we had never been back in the forest that far before.  Once we arrived at the center, Al, the owner greeted us and handed us a warm blanket.  The ride through the forest at night was fantastic. In the distance we could hear the howls of the coyotes, which disturbed the sled dogs housed on site.  Lots of howling made for an even more fun journey.   The sleigh traversed in and out of tree lined paths until we came upon our dinner cabin.  Dinner is homemade on site, we especially enjoyed the outstanding steaks they served.  The dinner was – delicious!  We were entertained, before dinner was served, by Mountain Man, who told stories about the old days of Breckenridge.  If you decide to go to the late show, be sure to eat something small before your journey as it is a while before dinner is served.  AND bring you own bottle!

Breckenridge Stables Sleigh Rides
Breckenridge Stables also offers an incredible sleigh ride with colorful custom built sleighs drawn by a team of Belgian, Clydesdale or Percheron draft horses.  Inside the sleigh, wrapped in a warm blanket we could hear the sleigh bells in the crisp mountain air.  The horses take you up through the paths of the National Forest of Peak Nine in Breckenridge, a picturesque journey.  Halfway through our sleigh ride, we were dropped off mid mountain in a yurt to dine, listen to great music, and enjoy the beautiful view extending from downtown Breckenridge to the Continental Divide.  The yurt is a permanent, heated building decorated in twinkling lights and western decor — the restrooms were heated, too!  The dinner is buffet style and delicious.  Once again, bring your own bottle! Website.

All of the sleigh rides offer menu choices, which you pick when you reserve your trip. Sleigh Ride Tips:  dress warmly – although they all give you warm woolen blankets, you are outdoors at night in the forest – it is a bit nippy!  And bring your camera. All of the rides let you take pictures with these fabulous and gentle animals – we especially enjoyed meeting the Clydesdales and were fascinated by their size.   Contact our concierge who is happy to book the perfect sleigh ride for you! Here are some suggestions for ResortQuest lodging for large groups! These homes will ensure all your buddies or co-workers are under the same roof.  If you have groups larger than 20 people, contact Brigitte, our group sales manager, to help you with any questions you may have.

Private Riverwood Home:  This beautiful private home is spacious and perfect for two or three families to stay together or a small business group or a large group of powder hounds!  With 6395 square feet, five bedrooms and 5 ½ baths – this fabulous home can sleep 16 people!   Enjoy spacious rooms with beautiful custom woodwork, vaulted ceilings and multiple balconies and decks hosting amazing scenery. The five fireplaces throughout the home offer both comfort and ambiance. With flat-screen TV’s in every bedroom, no luxury is forgotten in this home.  For some good together time, watch your favorite family movie in the home theatre. Or enjoy some adult time with a game of poker at the poker table in the spacious living room while the kids go downstairs in the game room to play Foosball or air hockey.  Later, step outside to enjoy the private hot tub and fire pit to keep you warm during late night star gazing – make sure you look for the satellites and shooting stars!
Westridge Lodge: Another choice for traveling groups to stay under one roof would be the absolutely amazing Westridge Lodge at 5,044 square feet.  With 6 bedrooms and 6 1/5 baths – you can sleep 20 people comfortably.  A large mud room off of the garage has plenty of space for storing all of you ski equipment and gear.  There is a spectacular great room with a huge fireplace and stone hearth, two large couches perfectly situated right in front of the fireplace and the new large flat screen TV, along with other cozy nooks for relaxing and enjoying the views.  The custom kitchen with stainless steel appliances is a treat for the gourmet cook or cooks – (but don’t put too many in the kitchen!)  There are two large dining room tables both seating ten as well as extra seating at the kitchen bar top - plenty of room for a feast.  Step out onto the back patio leading to an eight-person hot tub, or fire up the outdoor grill off the front patio overlooking town.  If you decide to have some fun without going into town, there is a recreation area located on the lowest floor with a pool table, large flat screen TV and a mini bar!

There are many other luxury homes for rent in Breckenridge, like the Lodgepole at Boulder Ridge, 4 bedroom 3 bath, gorgeous log home in the forest but close to everything – complete with a jukebox!  Or Snowflake Chalet, 4 bedrooms 4 baths which can sleep 12 people and has views of the ski run.

Not all groups want to be with each other 24/7 so simply stay next door to one another.   The Saddlewood Townhomes are perfect for just this! You can rent the units side by side, each have three bedrooms and each can sleep up to 11 people.  They are located right on the Snowflake Run, so they are truly ski in and ski out.  They are large, bright and spacious, have outdoor decks and private hot tubs.  And, at the end of the evening, everyone has their own unit to relax and spread out.

The snowfall in Breckenridge has been epic.  We already have more snow now than we usually get in an entire year!  See our lodging deals and book your perfect unit online- Don’t hesitate to contact us if you are not finding what you need!
