The 1st Celtic Festival a Success! Stormed Breckenridge with Kilts, Beer & Irish Music

The 1st annual Celtic Festival held at the Main Street Station Plaza in Breckenridge was a success with a variety of vendors, a rowdy Guinness beer tent and music that kept the crowd dancing the entire event. The whole event was highly spirited with many dressing in traditional Irish and Celtic attire of kilts embracing their heritage.

This highly anticipated event was a great festival for young and old alike. Visitors came to look up their ancestry in the Scott Clan tent, enjoy live Celtic Music, visit the various vendors selling handmade products from the old country and bask in the sunshine in the Guinness Beer Garden. Vendors ranged from yummy food including turkey legs and beer to hand made scarves, hats, bags and more.

Organizer Karin Bearnarth was able to bring in amazing Celtic bands including Ireland’s own Cara and 2 Duos while Potcheen and the Young Dubliners (of the USA) rocked the final hours of the festival. It was fantastic range of music, from traditional bag pipers and folk music. This family event closed out the day under a sunny sky with the Breckenridge slopes serving as a backdrop for the main stage.

“The high energy and excitement from the music, dancing, and the numbers of people who attended the festival were the highlights!” stated one of the festival attendees.

Next year’s festival is slated for Aug. 27, 2011. But if you need a great event for this coming weekend than make sure you make it to Breckenridge for the Wine Festival! Stay with ResortQuest Breckenridge for the best deals and discounted wine tickets.

Young Dubliners headline Breckenridge Celtic Fest This Weekend

The Young Dubliners were obviously meant to be — both a long-lasting, internationally touring band, and the headliner at Saturday's Breckenridge Celtic Festival at ResortQuest's Main Street Station.

Locally, the stars aligned for the Young Dubs to play in Breck. Last year, Main Street Station launched a Summer Concert Series, with the Young Dubliners packing the final show — even in the face of competing with Music on Main in Frisco, which had its largest crowd ever; Main Street Station “had people from all over the country come to see them,” said organizer Karin Bearnarth.

When the Guinness guys saw the crowd's reaction, they agreed to partner with Main Street Station to create a Celtic Festival. Local restaurant owners jumped on board, and so did the Dubs, going so far as to substantially cut their fee because they love Breckenridge and wanted to help out, Bearnarth said.
Then, to seal the great fate, the Rocky Mountain Celtic Festival, originally scheduled to occur on the same date as Breck's, shut down the festival, giving Bearnarth access to “great entertainment and lots of vendors who now had no place to go,” she said. Must be the luck o' the Irish.

Please Welcome the Flatbread Pizza Co to Breckenridge

Please help us welcome a the Flatbread Pizza Company to Breckenridge!  The FLATBREAD Pizza Co. created a free-form gourmet flatbread pizza for the masses right out of our custom built wood fired oven trailer. The combinations of the wood smoked flavor, the heating/cooking properties of a wood fired oven and eclectic toppings truly creates a phenomenal pizza. One taste and you will be hooked…  From the annual corporate picnic to an upscale wedding, The FLATBREAD Pizza Co. fits into every occasion, as an hors d'oeuvre or the main event.

What About the Crust?

The Flatbread Pizza Co. features a one of a kind super-thin artisan crust. The crust has a slightly brown charred under belly while the inside stays slightly chewy. Each batch of our dough is hand prepared and also comes in Wheat as an alternative to White Flour. Sometimes we add herbs and sometimes we add a hard cheese to the crust. You just never know…

What About The Wood?

We fuel our Italian wood fired pizza oven with maple and apple wood direct from local farmers in Colorado. The oven heats to the range of 700-1000 degrees so each pizza pie is cooked in about 3 minutes!

Most Importantly, What About the Toppings?

Read their Menu and you will see there are pizza's for every discerning pizza lover. Personally, I can't wait to try the Pear & Gorgonzola Pizza: Sliced Pears, mozzarella, gorgonzola, caramelized onions topped with toasted walnuts; The Blue River: Spicy shrimp, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, chili oil, goat cheese and fresh basil. Breck Bomber: Spicy italian sausage, prosciutto, gorgonzola cheese, tomato sauce and fresh oregano; or the Wild Mushroom  Portobello and crimini mushrooms, fresh arugula and fresh parmesa. I could go on forever!!

Flatbread Pizza only use only the freshest and highest quality natural ingredients and buy direct from local farms whenever possible. All of these things combined along with custom dough choices create the "most delicious pizza you'll ever experience."

So When & Where can you get your Hands on some Pizza?!

Breckenridge Haunted Tours: Ghost Stories from Breckenridge’s Past

Do you believe in ghosts? Almost anyone who’s lived in Breckenridge for even a small amount of time will admit that there are some old spirits still around with the story to tell. Modern day Breckenridge is a happy beautiful place, however the town’s rough and rugged past has left behind a few who don’t want to move on.

Including Miss Sylvia who has been in Breckenridge for over 100 years. She arrived with her husband in the tiny mining town during the gold rush only to be left alone when he died in a mining accident. Now she’s been seen regularly in the Prospector mysteriously moving from room to room with her dark hair and white dress. Its said her sole purpose in life was to find a rich husband.

“Everybody will admit to Sylvia,” said Gail Westwood, who researched Breckenridge's ghost history through books, web pages and interviews and now leads ghost tours through the town. “There have been many sightings, but only by men.”

And the stories continue from there. To hear all the spooky stories that make up some of Breckenridge’s past you have to take the Haunted Tours lead by Gail Westwood who works for the Breckenridge Heritage Society.

The first stop of this walking tour in the historic district, is the Dredge Boat then wander through the Valley Brook Cemetery over to the Brown Hotel which has one of the most infamous ghosts in town, Ms. Whitney. Westwood interviewed three of the bartenders at the Brown, and all had some story about ghostly occurrences; one even had a photo of an apparition appearing in the large fireplace.

On your vacation to Breckenridge make sure you stay with ResortQuest Breckenridge and we will ensure the concierge (800-455-7334) will book the best spooky tours you can handle from the Tommy Knockers in the old mines to the Haunted Tours.

To enjoy a little scare and some goosebumps, meet at the Breckenridge Visitor Center for the Haunted Tour this Friday Aug. 13th or Sept. 4. More dates are to come.

After the tunnel, make the descent back to “lower” ground and after passing through the town of Silverthorne look for the CO Route 9 exit at Frisco. This easy road winds its way into the high mountains surrounding Breckenridge!

Now we realize mountain driving is not for everyone, or even if you are happy to drive not all vacations work with a rental car etc. So here are the other popular travel options to get to Breckenridge & Keystone:
